PERIMENOPAUSE & MENOPAUSE · SPECIALIST CARE
Menopause care should be about more than managing symptoms.
Perimenopause and menopause can affect far more than periods and hot flushes. Changes in sleep, mood, cognition, sexual health, body composition and metabolic health can have a significant impact on how you feel and function. At Aurora, we take the time to understand what has changed, what matters to you and which treatment options are appropriate for your individual health and circumstances.

PERIMENOPAUSE CAN LOOK DIFFERENT FOR EVERYONE
Hot flushes & night sweats
Sleep disturbance
Mood changes & irritability
Brain fog & concentration
Changes in periods
Weight & body composition changes
Vaginal dryness & discomfort
Sexual health & libido
Headaches & migraines
Joint & muscle symptoms
Bladder & urinary symptoms
Changes in energy & wellbeing
You don’t need to have every symptom — or even irregular periods — to have a conversation about perimenopause.

YOUR CONSULTATION
Care that starts with understanding you.
An Aurora menopause consultation considers:
Your symptoms and how they affect daily life
Menstrual & reproductive history
Medical & family history
Medications & previous treatments
Cardiovascular, bone & metabolic health where relevant
Your priorities, goals & treatment preferences
Treatment may include menopause hormone therapy, non-hormonal treatments, lifestyle strategies, investigation or management of other contributing health issues, depending on your individual circumstances.
MENOPAUSE HORMONE THERAPY
Menopause hormone therapy can be highly effective for appropriate patients, particularly for vasomotor symptoms such as hot flushes and night sweats. The decision to use MHT — and the type, dose and route used — should take account of your symptoms, medical history, individual risks and treatment preferences. Aurora provides personalised assessment and discussion of the potential benefits, risks and alternatives.
BEYOND HORMONE THERAPY
What if I don’t want — or can’t take — MHT?
MHT isn’t the only option. Not everyone wants or needs menopause hormone therapy, and for some women it may not be appropriate. Depending on your symptoms and circumstances, treatment may include non-hormonal medicines, vaginal treatments, lifestyle strategies or management of other factors affecting sleep, mood, sexual health and wellbeing.
WEIGHT & METABOLIC HEALTH
Weight can change through midlife. The reasons are complex.
Midlife can bring changes in body composition, fat distribution, muscle mass, sleep and metabolic health. At the same time, strategies that worked for weight earlier in life may no longer work in the same way. Aurora can assess menopause and weight together rather than treating them as separate issues. Menopause does not explain every change in weight, and hormone therapy is not a weight loss treatment — but the whole clinical picture matters.
HEALTH THROUGH MIDLIFE
Menopause care is also an opportunity to consider health through midlife and beyond.

INDIVIDUAL CARE
What if my medical history is complicated?
Previous medical conditions, medications or individual risk factors can make menopause treatment decisions more complex. That doesn’t necessarily mean there are no treatment options. It means the potential benefits, risks and alternatives need to be considered carefully and individually.
